'Zombieland' Sequel Headed for a TV Series?

No Columbus or Tallahassee in Zombieland 2? Say it ain't so!With Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick choosing to write any non-zombie related scripts as of late, it's been unclear where that leaves a sequel until now.  While there will most certainly be a Zombieland 2, it won't be coming out in theaters but rather into your living rooms instead?  According to THR, Sony Pictures Television and Fox are teaming up to produce a half an hour comedy series based on Zombieland and are aiming to have it ready for the 2012-2013 broacast season.

'Zombieland 2' Casting News & Plot Points

Zombieland was one of my favorite movies of 2009. It had an excellent cast and script, humor and action. Before it was even done with it's theatrical run, there was talk of a sequel. And today, I have for you information on said sequel. However, there is a small spoiler involved, so if you somehow haven't seen it and don't want a surprise cameo ruined, don't continue past the click.

'Zombieland' Writers to Co-Direct 'Doc and Howie'

Ever since Zombieland became a hit, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been in high demand. They're already working on a Zombieland sequel, a G.I. Joe sequel, and the script for Deadpool. Now they're going to take on a different role, having just signed on to direct Doc and Howie, according to THR.

The movie is described as being Harold and Kumar-esque. The title characters accidentally kill an old woman by neglecting to help her carry her groceries up some stairs—yeah, that's what it says—and end up meeting her hot granddaughters. Presumably, hilarity ensues.

Zombieland 2 Moves Forward with New Script

The surprise hit action comedy, Zombieland will have a sequel.  Jesse Eisenberg has recently confirmed that he has seen a first draft of the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.  It remains to be seen how much of a "first draft" this script is considering that they are also writing the script for Deadpool and GI Joe 2.  I don't believe you can force creativity.  But then again, brainlessly hacking Zombies isn't too hard to write a script for I suppose.

That being said, I'm a big fan of the movie.  Zombieland was supremely entertaining for what it was and Woody Harrelson was born for this role.

Writers: 'G.I. Joe' Sequel "Faithful" To First Film

Where oh where to take G.I. Joe? I'm going to stand by the argument I've made since the week after this movie was released: It wasn't a smash hit. It sold a lot of merchandise, but in theaters, it didn't even double its budget, to say nothing of the promotion costs. Perhaps Paramount loves the non-traditional revenue game, and it would need to rely on it to show a profit for Joe.

The sequel has already shaken things up by hiring Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the soon-to-be overworked writers of Zombieland. Or then again, maybe not. "We can say that we will be faithful to the first film," Reese told MTV. "We will not be ignoring events from the first in the second." Added Wernick, "It will be a sequel. It will be a continuation of G.I. Joe."
