But it's not as simple as just doing the same thing again and charging people to see something they saw a few years earlier for free. There's a flips side of that, too, says Harris. "You don't want to necessarily make the feature film be an $80 million giant movie, because it defeats the purpose of what the first film was made to be."

The first almost certainly won't happen because of how deeply Singer is involved in pre-production on Giant Killer. But if he stays attached to that project, he won't have time to make First Class in the next 12 - 18 months, probably. The second part of the plan doesn't fit in with Fox' goal of total X-Men domination. The idea is to start that off-shoot as a franchise, get the second Wolverine movie going, and eventually revisit the original X-Men again.

But there's a third option: First Class can just hire a new director, and that appears to be where Fox might be heading at the moment. Reportedly, the word is out to several directors, "guys who either have real experience in the comic book movie medium or who have heavy credibility with fan audiences...names that would make fanboys happy from the first moment they're announced," asserts HitFix.

That's a money move, primarily. In a few instances, there will be perfectly legitimate artistic reasons for it, meaning the film is shot

in 3-D, but as long as people think the conversion process from standard 2-D to 3-D is the same thing as Avatar, plenty of studios

This

frame was the sixth most lucrative third weekend ever, as $34 million more rolled into its coffers to help make $350 million a

conceivable number - the most ever for a movie released in March - and the global ticket sales should make it one of Disney's biggest

movies ever in terms of raw, unadjusted revenue.

It received little resistance from three new movies, even though two of them exceeded $20 million at the box office. One of those, the

For Bounty Hunter, the numbers aren't terrible. Yet. It doesn't strike me as following the average movie blueprint, making about 30 - 35% of its box office total in the opening weekend. If it does, it's only because there's nothing playing in the adult comedy/romantic comedy/action comedy sandbox until Date Night, but I expect it to fall rather quickly, finishing with around $50 million or so. That's just enough to break even, but of course, studios aren't in the business of breaking even.
